Ride to Talk – The Chatterbox Helmet

Ever tried to handle a cell phone on a motor bike? That’s when you need a Chatterbox helmet – with a Chatterbox helmet you can talk and ride.

The Chatterbox is a compact, hands free helmet based communications system. The two way radio mounts directly into your motorcycle helmet. It’s so lightweight you won’t even notice it and it is easy to install. The Velcro attachments make it easy to attach and remove.

Chatterbox is a trademarked product name so you will need to get your system from an authorized dealer or check out the Chatterbox website.

There are several models available and you are sure to find one that suits your needs.

The bike to bike models are the best selling Chatterbox helmet models. The FRS Multi Sport is available in full face helmet and open face helmet styles, and gives up to two miles talking range. The FM (frequency modulation) transmission provides clear communications with hands free voice activation. You can take the FRS off road into rough conditions with no trouble. The strong shock resistant casing makes it a good companion anywhere you want to go.

The FRS has two channels, but if you want more technology move up to the FRS-X2 with 14 channels and 38 talk groups. The FRS-X2 features a large illuminated liquid crystal display and a cellphone input.

Top of the line in the bike to bike Chatterbox helmet communicators is the GMRS-X1, a powerful model with 15 channels and a five mile communications radius.

All bike to bike models are battery powered, low battery indicator lights. The batteries last about a day, and are fully rechargeable.

The FRS-X2 and the GMRS-X1 are in water resistant cases.

To keep in touch with your passenger, there are two rider to passenger models of the Chatterbox helmet. The HJC-50 Tandem Pro features fully adjustable volume control, stereo sound and inputs for cellphone or radar detector, while the HJC-60 uses noise reducing headsets rather than stereo headsets. The HJC-60 is also voice activated.

Chatterbox also makes a range of hand held communicators, starting with the Freetalk. This is a handy unit to take along if you don’t need full time communication but do want to keep in touch with other members of your group. But there is also a hands free system available, the Pro-Pac System, which means all you have to do is talk.

Chatterbox has a number of other products available to make your motorcycling more enjoyable. The Chatterbox helmet can be fitted with a Noise reducing Headset that cuts down ambient noise so you can enjoy greater clarity when listening to music.

The Chatterbox Solo is a mini AM/FM stereo that delivers dynamic sound from a tiny unit. The Solo can also be attached to most Chatterbox systems through an audio cord.
